Narrative:
Approximately 50 mi west of ord, we were climbing at a rate of between 1500-2000 FPM, climbing through FL207 when ATC told us to level at FL210. We realized that the autoplt was not going to be able to capture the altitude, so the captain disconnected the autoplt and stopped the climb, but not before we had reached approximately FL214. He immediately descended back to FL210. We informed ATC of the deviation. The remainder of the flight was uneventful.
