Narrative:
It was discovered that the inverter that was deferred was incorrectly reported on the release. All logbook entries showed it was written up on monday -- a category B and 3 day deferral. Maintenance control had input the incorrect date of the deferral which was tuesday, thus flyable on thursday. The second captain of the day discovered the error on aircraft xyz and grounded the aircraft until properly maintained.

Title: A SAAB 340B WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH A DEFERRED MAINT ITEM 1 DAY OVER LIMITS.
Narrative: IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE INVERTER THAT WAS DEFERRED WAS INCORRECTLY RPTED ON THE RELEASE. ALL LOGBOOK ENTRIES SHOWED IT WAS WRITTEN UP ON MONDAY -- A CATEGORY B AND 3 DAY DEFERRAL. MAINT CTL HAD INPUT THE INCORRECT DATE OF THE DEFERRAL WHICH WAS TUESDAY, THUS FLYABLE ON THURSDAY. THE SECOND CAPT OF THE DAY DISCOVERED THE ERROR ON ACFT XYZ AND GNDED THE ACFT UNTIL PROPERLY MAINTAINED.
