Narrative:
After clearing us for immediate takeoff, tower stated the winds which had favored runway 6 now were a 3 KT tailwind. In our haste to make the immediate takeoff, neither pilot caught the significance of the wind shift until after takeoff. The result was that we exceeded the weight limit for that runway with a tailwind. Since we were the only aircraft that was weight limited, tower could have helped us by telling us as soon as the wind shifted.
