Narrative:

The aircraft in question was inbound to lbb approach and was supposed to 'automatic handoff' to approach control at approximately 55 mi out. This feature was not inhibited. The aircraft did not, however, automatically hand off. The situation was observed and appropriate action was taken to prevent a deviation. The system apparently has some flaws that have not been addressed for several yrs. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the aircraft in question may have been rerted to the arrival gate.

Title: ARTCC CTLR AT ZFW CLAIMS AUTO HDOF FEATURE DID NOT WORK WITH AN ACFT INBOUND TO LBB APCH CTL.

Narrative: THE ACFT IN QUESTION WAS INBOUND TO LBB APCH AND WAS SUPPOSED TO 'AUTO HDOF' TO APCH CTL AT APPROX 55 MI OUT. THIS FEATURE WAS NOT INHIBITED. THE ACFT DID NOT, HOWEVER, AUTOMATICALLY HAND OFF. THE SIT WAS OBSERVED AND APPROPRIATE ACTION WAS TAKEN TO PREVENT A DEV. THE SYS APPARENTLY HAS SOME FLAWS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN ADDRESSED FOR SEVERAL YRS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THE ACFT IN QUESTION MAY HAVE BEEN RERTED TO THE ARR GATE.
