Narrative:

During ILS runway 35 approach into salina, our aircraft began to pick up ice once we entered the clouds. In the WX briefing I had received 30 mins prior to departure, icing was not forecasted nor reported in the area. Ict FSS advised me that the freezing level was at 6000 ft. Since we were flying at 3500 ft, this didn't seem to be too much of a concern. Although the amount was very small, it was more than I ever want in a C172. What I learned from this was that even though icing wasn't forecasted or reported, I should have used better common sense. My yrs of aviation WX classes should have been a more determining factor, rather than trick myself to believe that an inversion was present. Fortunately this was one of those aviation lessons you can learn from and still walk away.
