Narrative:
Landing gear would not extend. Gear up landing airworthiness certificate and 'temporary' registration not on board. Spent 3 hours after returning from trip from trenton to allentown attempting to extend gear -- with ATC assistance. In attempting to lasso gear into down and locked position, both certificates blew out the door. We had no copies. Registration was 'temporary' and was expired due to FAA backup in oklahoma city. Landing was safe -- no injuries, minimal damage. Many people did extraordinary work in trying to help us (myself with student) through the problem.
