Narrative:

I was parked for runup at the southwest runup area at sfb. Upon completion of the runup, I contacted ground for taxi to active. I was facing the tower. This put open areas equal distance from me. I was told to taxi to runway 27C. At this point I pulled forward. I was unfamiliar with the airport and had asked for progressive taxi instructions upon arrival, but I thought I understood the directions. I then pulled onto the blastpad area of runway 27/9C. There was a plane at the far end of the runway (3000 ft). However, I saw within 20 ft the chevron and before the controller finished speaking, I was off the runway. What I saw was a set of unclr signs. There is also a lot of construction at that airport, specifically where I was. Also, the aircraft are parked on a ramp with virtually no markings to separate the runoff area. There is a sign in tall grass. There is also another sign next to the intersection. There is a lot of open ground and it was due to these factors, I believe I became disoriented. While I don't want to blame any one thing, I should have clarified my position, but, I have since heard that others have had this problem at this intersection. All in all, I penetrated the blast pad area of runway 27C at sfb while another aircraft was rolling on. I was in no more than 20 ft and spun immediately, but I still entered without a clearance. Also, I did see the other aircraft and was hesitant to proceed, but I recalled instantly that my initial taxi was on a taxiway that had 2-WAY traffic. This shocked me as I had never seen this before.

Title: C152 PLT INADVERTENTLY ENTERS RWY BLAST PAD AT SFB, FL. CITES POOR MARKINGS AND UNFAMILIARITY.

Narrative: I WAS PARKED FOR RUNUP AT THE SW RUNUP AREA AT SFB. UPON COMPLETION OF THE RUNUP, I CONTACTED GND FOR TAXI TO ACTIVE. I WAS FACING THE TWR. THIS PUT OPEN AREAS EQUAL DISTANCE FROM ME. I WAS TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 27C. AT THIS POINT I PULLED FORWARD. I WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT AND HAD ASKED FOR PROGRESSIVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS UPON ARR, BUT I THOUGHT I UNDERSTOOD THE DIRECTIONS. I THEN PULLED ONTO THE BLASTPAD AREA OF RWY 27/9C. THERE WAS A PLANE AT THE FAR END OF THE RWY (3000 FT). HOWEVER, I SAW WITHIN 20 FT THE CHEVRON AND BEFORE THE CTLR FINISHED SPEAKING, I WAS OFF THE RWY. WHAT I SAW WAS A SET OF UNCLR SIGNS. THERE IS ALSO A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION AT THAT ARPT, SPECIFICALLY WHERE I WAS. ALSO, THE ACFT ARE PARKED ON A RAMP WITH VIRTUALLY NO MARKINGS TO SEPARATE THE RUNOFF AREA. THERE IS A SIGN IN TALL GRASS. THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER SIGN NEXT TO THE INTXN. THERE IS A LOT OF OPEN GND AND IT WAS DUE TO THESE FACTORS, I BELIEVE I BECAME DISORIENTED. WHILE I DON'T WANT TO BLAME ANY ONE THING, I SHOULD HAVE CLARIFIED MY POS, BUT, I HAVE SINCE HEARD THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS PROB AT THIS INTXN. ALL IN ALL, I PENETRATED THE BLAST PAD AREA OF RWY 27C AT SFB WHILE ANOTHER ACFT WAS ROLLING ON. I WAS IN NO MORE THAN 20 FT AND SPUN IMMEDIATELY, BUT I STILL ENTERED WITHOUT A CLRNC. ALSO, I DID SEE THE OTHER ACFT AND WAS HESITANT TO PROCEED, BUT I RECALLED INSTANTLY THAT MY INITIAL TAXI WAS ON A TXWY THAT HAD 2-WAY TFC. THIS SHOCKED ME AS I HAD NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE.
