Narrative:

Air carrier maintenance policies and procedures manual, CAT IIIA maintenance program XXX-21, procedures paragraph C, page 8 states that a 'logbook entry will be stating that a satisfactory operational check of the component was performed and the system is not certified for CAT IIIA.' the reason why the system is not certified for CAT IIIA is because CAT IIIA certification requires a functional test. A second entry will remove the aircraft from CAT IIIA status by placing it on MEL. On feb/tue/00, I made an entry into the logbook for aircraft xyz stating that the 'flight warning computer operationally checks normal per F100 maintenance manual 31-51-00. Aircraft required to be removed from CAT IIIA certification due to no functional test of the fwc (flight warning computer).' in this entry I did not use the words 'not certified for CAT IIIA.' I got a little bit too wordy and was explaining that due to no functional test of the fwc (flight warning computer) the aircraft was required to be removed from CAT IIIA certification. The next entry was the correct entry removing the aircraft from CAT IIIA certification by placing it on MEL. I am concerned that the words 'aircraft required to be removed from CAT IIIA certification' are not as clear as the words 'not certified for CAT IIIA.' these logbook entries were made on the jetway next to the aircraft.

Title: A FOKKER 100 WAS REMOVED FROM CATEGORY IIIA STATUS DUE TO NO FUNCTIONAL CHK PERFORMED, BUT LOGBOOK ENTRY DID NOT USE EXACT WORDING PER THE PROCS MANUAL.

Narrative: ACR MAINT POLICIES AND PROCS MANUAL, CAT IIIA MAINT PROGRAM XXX-21, PROCS PARAGRAPH C, PAGE 8 STATES THAT A 'LOGBOOK ENTRY WILL BE STATING THAT A SATISFACTORY OPERATIONAL CHK OF THE COMPONENT WAS PERFORMED AND THE SYS IS NOT CERTIFIED FOR CAT IIIA.' THE REASON WHY THE SYS IS NOT CERTIFIED FOR CAT IIIA IS BECAUSE CAT IIIA CERTIFICATION REQUIRES A FUNCTIONAL TEST. A SECOND ENTRY WILL REMOVE THE ACFT FROM CAT IIIA STATUS BY PLACING IT ON MEL. ON FEB/TUE/00, I MADE AN ENTRY INTO THE LOGBOOK FOR ACFT XYZ STATING THAT THE 'FLT WARNING COMPUTER OPERATIONALLY CHKS NORMAL PER F100 MAINT MANUAL 31-51-00. ACFT REQUIRED TO BE REMOVED FROM CAT IIIA CERTIFICATION DUE TO NO FUNCTIONAL TEST OF THE FWC (FLT WARNING COMPUTER).' IN THIS ENTRY I DID NOT USE THE WORDS 'NOT CERTIFIED FOR CAT IIIA.' I GOT A LITTLE BIT TOO WORDY AND WAS EXPLAINING THAT DUE TO NO FUNCTIONAL TEST OF THE FWC (FLT WARNING COMPUTER) THE ACFT WAS REQUIRED TO BE REMOVED FROM CAT IIIA CERTIFICATION. THE NEXT ENTRY WAS THE CORRECT ENTRY REMOVING THE ACFT FROM CAT IIIA CERTIFICATION BY PLACING IT ON MEL. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE WORDS 'ACFT REQUIRED TO BE REMOVED FROM CAT IIIA CERTIFICATION' ARE NOT AS CLR AS THE WORDS 'NOT CERTIFIED FOR CAT IIIA.' THESE LOGBOOK ENTRIES WERE MADE ON THE JETWAY NEXT TO THE ACFT.
