Narrative:

Prior to push back the tug driver was anxious to push for on-time departure. The aft cargo door indicated open but appeared closed. We told him to check the cargo door but he said he would check after push. He did not understand our concern since the door appeared closed. After push, he cycled door and all lights went out. Uneventful after door was cycled. FAA maintenance inspector met flight in atl and was debriefed.

Title: AN L1011 FLC ADVISES THE TUG DRIVER THAT A CARGO DOOR LIGHT IS ACTIVATED PRIOR TO PUSH BACK. THE ACFT IS PUSHED AND THEN THE DRIVER RECYCLED THE DOOR SUCCESSFULLY FOR AN 'ON TIME' DEP FROM SLC, UT.

Narrative: PRIOR TO PUSH BACK THE TUG DRIVER WAS ANXIOUS TO PUSH FOR ON-TIME DEP. THE AFT CARGO DOOR INDICATED OPEN BUT APPEARED CLOSED. WE TOLD HIM TO CHK THE CARGO DOOR BUT HE SAID HE WOULD CHK AFTER PUSH. HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND OUR CONCERN SINCE THE DOOR APPEARED CLOSED. AFTER PUSH, HE CYCLED DOOR AND ALL LIGHTS WENT OUT. UNEVENTFUL AFTER DOOR WAS CYCLED. FAA MAINT INSPECTOR MET FLT IN ATL AND WAS DEBRIEFED.
