Narrative:

I was inbound for landing and I reported 10 mi to the south. When I saw the airport the runways did not line up the way I thought they should be. When looking at my instruments I realized that I was north of the field. I changed direction and noticed an aircraft off my right wing. I immediately contacted tower and restated my position. The tower talked to me and we got the situation straightened out. Double-checking the instruments would prevent recurrences.
