Narrative:
While on spane arrival into slc we erroneously followed gfms map from spane directly to slc. We should have flown raw data and stayed on arrival. This error put us 7.5 NM east off course when we noticed. While correcting back to course, slc approach gave us a heading and cleared us from 16000 to 11000. Uneventful visual approach followed. We called slc approach after landing and they said no traffic conflict occurred.
