Narrative:
This flight was vectored and given multiple altitude assignments to allow a preceding flight space ahead on the arrival (a total of 4 or more vectors and 2 altitude changes). Normally bunts intersection is crossed at 8000 ft. The frequency was very busy and several xmissions were stepped on and blocked. Several attempts were made by this crew to obtain descent clearance but were blocked so the last assigned altitude and route were maintained. No loss or separation occurred. Communication was re-established through an ACARS message and the flight proceeded normally. Apparently a frequency change was covered and missed by this flight.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF A B757-200 LOST RADIO CONTACT WITH CTR FOR A SHORT TIME SINCE AFTER RE-ESTABLISHING CONTACT VIA ACARS, ARTCC CTLR ADVISED THAT THEY HAD GIVEN A FREQ CHANGE.
Narrative: THIS FLT WAS VECTORED AND GIVEN MULTIPLE ALT ASSIGNMENTS TO ALLOW A PRECEDING FLT SPACE AHEAD ON THE ARR (A TOTAL OF 4 OR MORE VECTORS AND 2 ALT CHANGES). NORMALLY BUNTS INTXN IS CROSSED AT 8000 FT. THE FREQ WAS VERY BUSY AND SEVERAL XMISSIONS WERE STEPPED ON AND BLOCKED. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE MADE BY THIS CREW TO OBTAIN DSCNT CLRNC BUT WERE BLOCKED SO THE LAST ASSIGNED ALT AND RTE WERE MAINTAINED. NO LOSS OR SEPARATION OCCURRED. COM WAS RE-ESTABLISHED THROUGH AN ACARS MESSAGE AND THE FLT PROCEEDED NORMALLY. APPARENTLY A FREQ CHANGE WAS COVERED AND MISSED BY THIS FLT.
