Narrative:
Event occurred during takeoff from cap-haitien airport, haiti. After 2 haitian owned/operated turboprop aircraft landed on runway 5 at cap-haitien airport, the tower controller called me on the phone at PM15 to advise me that he was closing the tower and he asked me what my intentions were. I told him we still had adequate visibility and visual reference (sunset is at PM00) to attempt a takeoff. He acknowledged and gave me the local WX (10 mi visibility, winds northeast at 20 KTS, altimeter 30.12 inches). The first officer was the PF for this leg of the flight to fll. We ramped out at PM26 and back taxied on runway 5 for takeoff. As we accelerated down the runway at PM30, we noticed a cow walking in the grass off to the right side of the runway which is a normal occurrence since that airport is not fenced. When we rotated off the ground the cow attempted to cross the runway about 200 ft in front of the aircraft. We cleared it vertically by 50 ft. The rest of the flight was uneventful.

Title: AN SA227 FLT NARROWLY MISSES A COW ON THE RWY DURING ROTATION AND LIFTOFF DURING A DUSK OP AT CAP-HAITIEN ARPT, MTCH, FO.
Narrative: EVENT OCCURRED DURING TKOF FROM CAP-HAITIEN ARPT, HAITI. AFTER 2 HAITIAN OWNED/OPERATED TURBOPROP ACFT LANDED ON RWY 5 AT CAP-HAITIEN ARPT, THE TWR CTLR CALLED ME ON THE PHONE AT PM15 TO ADVISE ME THAT HE WAS CLOSING THE TWR AND HE ASKED ME WHAT MY INTENTIONS WERE. I TOLD HIM WE STILL HAD ADEQUATE VISIBILITY AND VISUAL REF (SUNSET IS AT PM00) TO ATTEMPT A TKOF. HE ACKNOWLEDGED AND GAVE ME THE LCL WX (10 MI VISIBILITY, WINDS NE AT 20 KTS, ALTIMETER 30.12 INCHES). THE FO WAS THE PF FOR THIS LEG OF THE FLT TO FLL. WE RAMPED OUT AT PM26 AND BACK TAXIED ON RWY 5 FOR TKOF. AS WE ACCELERATED DOWN THE RWY AT PM30, WE NOTICED A COW WALKING IN THE GRASS OFF TO THE R SIDE OF THE RWY WHICH IS A NORMAL OCCURRENCE SINCE THAT ARPT IS NOT FENCED. WHEN WE ROTATED OFF THE GND THE COW ATTEMPTED TO CROSS THE RWY ABOUT 200 FT IN FRONT OF THE ACFT. WE CLRED IT VERTLY BY 50 FT. THE REST OF THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
