Narrative:

After takeoff, gear failed to retract. Apparent cause was failed air-ground sensor. We dumped 23000 pounds of fuel prior to a normal approach and landing. While on runway awaiting gear pin installation, smoke appeared in cabin. Aircraft was evacuate/evacuationed via main door and slides. Air-ground sensor failure caused air conditioning pack cooling fans to fail causing smoke in cabin. I chose to evacuate/evacuation via main doors only due to large number of young children (approximately 40 out of 139 passenger) on board. Emergency personnel were adjacent to the aircraft at time of evacuate/evacuation. No injuries reported.

Title: A B727-200 IS EVACED WHEN SMOKE IS DETECTED IN THE ACFT'S CABIN AFTER A RETURN LAND. ACFT'S RETURN MANDATED BY A FAILURE OF THE AIR-GND SENSOR AND BEING UNABLE TO RAISE THE GEAR NEAR LGA, NY.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF, GEAR FAILED TO RETRACT. APPARENT CAUSE WAS FAILED AIR-GND SENSOR. WE DUMPED 23000 LBS OF FUEL PRIOR TO A NORMAL APCH AND LNDG. WHILE ON RWY AWAITING GEAR PIN INSTALLATION, SMOKE APPEARED IN CABIN. ACFT WAS EVACED VIA MAIN DOOR AND SLIDES. AIR-GND SENSOR FAILURE CAUSED AIR CONDITIONING PACK COOLING FANS TO FAIL CAUSING SMOKE IN CABIN. I CHOSE TO EVAC VIA MAIN DOORS ONLY DUE TO LARGE NUMBER OF YOUNG CHILDREN (APPROX 40 OUT OF 139 PAX) ON BOARD. EMER PERSONNEL WERE ADJACENT TO THE ACFT AT TIME OF EVAC. NO INJURIES RPTED.
