Primary Problem | Flight Crew Human Performance |
Narrative:
I accidentally flew in excess of 100 hours in 30 days. The problem arose when the person that enters our company's flight times into the computer was out sick without my knowledge. Our computer indicated that I had flown 91.5 hours before I started my trip on mar/tue/00. I flew 5.5 hours that day which I thought would have put me at 97.0 hours. The person that had been out sick returned and entered time from the week before and I was at 101.5 hours at my trip's completion. I had been keeping my flight time on my personal laptop as a backup but I entered 1 day's flying in the wrong century by mistake. I have to enter the current date each time I change screen locations or my logbook reverts to 1900 instead of 2000. The problem is difficult to notice as mar/tue/2000 shows as mar/tue/00, the same as mar/tue/1900. I did not realize the problem had occurred until our flight following department paged me as I was landing at the end of my trip. To make sure the problem never occurs again I am now keeping a manual logbook.

Narrative: I ACCIDENTALLY FLEW IN EXCESS OF 100 HRS IN 30 DAYS. THE PROB AROSE WHEN THE PERSON THAT ENTERS OUR COMPANY'S FLT TIMES INTO THE COMPUTER WAS OUT SICK WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. OUR COMPUTER INDICATED THAT I HAD FLOWN 91.5 HRS BEFORE I STARTED MY TRIP ON MAR/TUE/00. I FLEW 5.5 HRS THAT DAY WHICH I THOUGHT WOULD HAVE PUT ME AT 97.0 HRS. THE PERSON THAT HAD BEEN OUT SICK RETURNED AND ENTERED TIME FROM THE WK BEFORE AND I WAS AT 101.5 HRS AT MY TRIP'S COMPLETION. I HAD BEEN KEEPING MY FLT TIME ON MY PERSONAL LAPTOP AS A BACKUP BUT I ENTERED 1 DAY'S FLYING IN THE WRONG CENTURY BY MISTAKE. I HAVE TO ENTER THE CURRENT DATE EACH TIME I CHANGE SCREEN LOCATIONS OR MY LOGBOOK REVERTS TO 1900 INSTEAD OF 2000. THE PROB IS DIFFICULT TO NOTICE AS MAR/TUE/2000 SHOWS AS MAR/TUE/00, THE SAME AS MAR/TUE/1900. I DID NOT REALIZE THE PROB HAD OCCURRED UNTIL OUR FLT FOLLOWING DEPT PAGED ME AS I WAS LNDG AT THE END OF MY TRIP. TO MAKE SURE THE PROB NEVER OCCURS AGAIN I AM NOW KEEPING A MANUAL LOGBOOK.
