Narrative:
Aircraft arrived at gate with 2 logbook entries -- right flight director inoperative and no autoplt will engage. Aircraft had history of left autoplt trouble. I ran test using the fault information manual and the maintenance computer panel remote test box. I was getting a lot of fail test messages on three tests. I believe a majority of the fail messages were caused by not being able to engage the 3 autoplts. I put the 3 autoplts on defferral according to MEL and got dispatch approval. Also pulled and secured the circuit breaker called for in the MEL. I ran test xx for the right flight director inoperative problem, and it passed the test. I am not positive that some of the messages that showed on the three tests (about 10 messages) did not refer to the flight director and would lead me to a different test. When I ran test xx and it passed, I signed off the right flight director.
