Narrative:

Dfw ramp procedure. After pwring back from the gate, ramp control told us exit via 122 and to call ground when #1. When we got up to the inner the ATC dfw west ground controller said to contact ramp again to get clearance to do a 180 degrees then cut through the north part of the ramp and exit at taxiway hy. There were aircraft behind me coming out of 122 and 123 and yet taxiway G to the north was totally empty. While I rifled through the airport pages to see if there were any restrs I called ramp to see if they knew of any special procedure or restrs on going that way. All this time we are burning a lot of fuel I felt very uncomfortable cutting through someone else's ramp area. With a still totally empty taxiway G dfw ground allowed me to go the standard way out of there. En route we went as fast as we could and with the GPS on board we cut as many corners as we could to get there on time. Didn't work we were late.
