Narrative:

Procedures are clear for handling crew notification of embarking armed low enforcement officers. Specifically, special gate passes are to be given to flight crew by gate agent. On this flight, law enforcement officer brought his own passes down. When I told agent about this, he said that this was the procedure for the past 8 yrs. Asked if he wanted to see the procedure in writing, he said nothing. A law enforcement officer who forgets to surrender his cards could create a problem on board.
