Narrative:
Controller asked me to descend to 16000 ft from 17000 ft. Autoplt flying plane. Passenger distraction me. Plane's initial descent rate was set for 500 FPM down. Due to light/moderate chop, autoplt reduced descent to approximately 50 FPM. Did not realize until controller asked me my altitude. At that time continued descent at better than 500 FPM.
