Narrative:
We departed bfm at XA40 en route to new. Once within 20 mi, approach control reported traffic (a bonanza) same direction and ahead of us, also landing new. This traffic was reported on several occasions and finally we were cleared for the visual approach to runway 36L without having the bonanza in sight. When we started the turn to final (about 5 mi), we got the bonanza in sight, established on final for runway 36R. Once established on final for runway 36L, and descending through about 800 ft MSL, the sic and PNF said 'oh *#@$' and went to grab the controls. I (the PIC and PF) asked 'what, what?' and saw the other pilot looking and motioning to the aircraft at our 10:30-11 O'clock position and high. I stooped down in the seat so as to be able to see up through the windshield and saw the underside of a bonanza crossing left to right. I estimate the distance at 20 ft. It appeared the bonanza had crossed the final for runway 36L on a left base for runway 36R. The bonanza rolled out on final for runway 36R directly abeam us and then appeared to be drifting closer to us. At that point I called for and began to go around with a climbing left turn and return for landing. We reported to tower that there had been a near miss and overheard the tower say to the bonanza pilot 'I thought you said you had the king air in sight.' the bonanza pilot replied 'no, I said I didn't have it in sight.'

Title: AN AIR TAXI KING AIR PLT RPTED AN NMAC AT NEW, LA.
Narrative: WE DEPARTED BFM AT XA40 ENRTE TO NEW. ONCE WITHIN 20 MI, APCH CTL RPTED TFC (A BONANZA) SAME DIRECTION AND AHEAD OF US, ALSO LNDG NEW. THIS TFC WAS RPTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND FINALLY WE WERE CLRED FOR THE VISUAL APCH TO RWY 36L WITHOUT HAVING THE BONANZA IN SIGHT. WHEN WE STARTED THE TURN TO FINAL (ABOUT 5 MI), WE GOT THE BONANZA IN SIGHT, ESTABLISHED ON FINAL FOR RWY 36R. ONCE ESTABLISHED ON FINAL FOR RWY 36L, AND DSNDING THROUGH ABOUT 800 FT MSL, THE SIC AND PNF SAID 'OH *#@$' AND WENT TO GRAB THE CTLS. I (THE PIC AND PF) ASKED 'WHAT, WHAT?' AND SAW THE OTHER PLT LOOKING AND MOTIONING TO THE ACFT AT OUR 10:30-11 O'CLOCK POS AND HIGH. I STOOPED DOWN IN THE SEAT SO AS TO BE ABLE TO SEE UP THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD AND SAW THE UNDERSIDE OF A BONANZA XING L TO R. I ESTIMATE THE DISTANCE AT 20 FT. IT APPEARED THE BONANZA HAD CROSSED THE FINAL FOR RWY 36L ON A L BASE FOR RWY 36R. THE BONANZA ROLLED OUT ON FINAL FOR RWY 36R DIRECTLY ABEAM US AND THEN APPEARED TO BE DRIFTING CLOSER TO US. AT THAT POINT I CALLED FOR AND BEGAN TO GO AROUND WITH A CLBING L TURN AND RETURN FOR LNDG. WE RPTED TO TWR THAT THERE HAD BEEN A NEAR MISS AND OVERHEARD THE TWR SAY TO THE BONANZA PLT 'I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU HAD THE KING AIR IN SIGHT.' THE BONANZA PLT REPLIED 'NO, I SAID I DIDN'T HAVE IT IN SIGHT.'
