Narrative:
Captain was hand flying ILS runway 27 approach in VMC to bos. I was performing duties as PNF, which included completion of checklists, radio communication, cabin briefings and monitoring aircraft approach and traffic separation. During approach, the captain and I failed to recognize that approach did not hand us off to the tower. At approximately 7 mi from the airport, I reviewed the approach plate to determine the appropriate tower frequency and put it into the stand-by window of the #1 communication radio. I became distraction by commands from the PF and configuring the aircraft, checklist completion and failed to notice I was not asked by approach control to switch to tower. After landing and stopping at the high speed taxiway turnoff, I queried the tower for further instructions. Approach control responded that we should contact the tower now on frequency 119.1. I realized that we had landed without radio contact with bos tower. I immediately contacted the tower. The tower asked if we could hear them and I responded yes. We were provided taxi instructions. Due to task saturation, both the captain and I failed to realize that we were never handed off to tower and did not receive a landing clearance. In the future, I will be more vigilant in this regard.

Title: MD80 CREW LANDED IN BOS WITHOUT TWR CLRNC.
Narrative: CAPT WAS HAND FLYING ILS RWY 27 APCH IN VMC TO BOS. I WAS PERFORMING DUTIES AS PNF, WHICH INCLUDED COMPLETION OF CHKLISTS, RADIO COM, CABIN BRIEFINGS AND MONITORING ACFT APCH AND TFC SEPARATION. DURING APCH, THE CAPT AND I FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THAT APCH DID NOT HAND US OFF TO THE TWR. AT APPROX 7 MI FROM THE ARPT, I REVIEWED THE APCH PLATE TO DETERMINE THE APPROPRIATE TWR FREQ AND PUT IT INTO THE STAND-BY WINDOW OF THE #1 COM RADIO. I BECAME DISTR BY COMMANDS FROM THE PF AND CONFIGURING THE ACFT, CHKLIST COMPLETION AND FAILED TO NOTICE I WAS NOT ASKED BY APCH CTL TO SWITCH TO TWR. AFTER LNDG AND STOPPING AT THE HIGH SPD TXWY TURNOFF, I QUERIED THE TWR FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. APCH CTL RESPONDED THAT WE SHOULD CONTACT THE TWR NOW ON FREQ 119.1. I REALIZED THAT WE HAD LANDED WITHOUT RADIO CONTACT WITH BOS TWR. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE TWR. THE TWR ASKED IF WE COULD HEAR THEM AND I RESPONDED YES. WE WERE PROVIDED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. DUE TO TASK SATURATION, BOTH THE CAPT AND I FAILED TO REALIZE THAT WE WERE NEVER HANDED OFF TO TWR AND DID NOT RECEIVE A LNDG CLRNC. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL BE MORE VIGILANT IN THIS REGARD.
