Narrative:

Taxiing to runway 2, I was asked to expedite across runway 32/14. As I crossed, I could see the landing cpr jet on very short final, so I kept my taxi speed up. Soon after crossing and clear of the hold lines for runway 32/14, I reduced RPM to about 600 RPM and began applying brakes. The 4 inch mechanical drum brakes on my 1949 mooney mite couldn't bring the aircraft to a full stop prior to crossing the hold line for runway 2, which I passed by about 20 ft. I called ground control, they requested I do a 180 degree turn back across the hold line. I was past the hold line before the cessna landing on runway 2 arrived. 2 contributing factors: this was my first time taxiing the mite at speeds above a brisk walk and I didn't know the airport, so I didn't realize how little time I would have to get stopped. With the above knowledge (20/20 hindsight), I would have told ground control that I would hold short of runway 32/14 for the landing traffic.

Title: MOONEY MITE PLT HAD RWY INCURSION AT MIE.

Narrative: TAXIING TO RWY 2, I WAS ASKED TO EXPEDITE ACROSS RWY 32/14. AS I CROSSED, I COULD SEE THE LNDG CPR JET ON VERY SHORT FINAL, SO I KEPT MY TAXI SPD UP. SOON AFTER XING AND CLR OF THE HOLD LINES FOR RWY 32/14, I REDUCED RPM TO ABOUT 600 RPM AND BEGAN APPLYING BRAKES. THE 4 INCH MECHANICAL DRUM BRAKES ON MY 1949 MOONEY MITE COULDN'T BRING THE ACFT TO A FULL STOP PRIOR TO XING THE HOLD LINE FOR RWY 2, WHICH I PASSED BY ABOUT 20 FT. I CALLED GND CTL, THEY REQUESTED I DO A 180 DEG TURN BACK ACROSS THE HOLD LINE. I WAS PAST THE HOLD LINE BEFORE THE CESSNA LNDG ON RWY 2 ARRIVED. 2 CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME TAXIING THE MITE AT SPDS ABOVE A BRISK WALK AND I DIDN'T KNOW THE ARPT, SO I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW LITTLE TIME I WOULD HAVE TO GET STOPPED. WITH THE ABOVE KNOWLEDGE (20/20 HINDSIGHT), I WOULD HAVE TOLD GND CTL THAT I WOULD HOLD SHORT OF RWY 32/14 FOR THE LNDG TFC.
