Narrative:
I was cleared by ground control at montreal dorval airport to taxi to taxiway a and to hold short of runway 6. The controller asked that I run up prior to crossing runway 6 and to call him when I was ready to cross. I read back the hold short and taxi instructions then did a run-up. Upon completing the run-up, I called ground and was told to proceed to taxiway A3 and hold short, cross runway 6. As I crossed runway 6, I noticed a large jet poised at the other end (+/-7000 ft away) on the roll for takeoff. I accelerated across the runway just as the ground controller asked me to 'hold short.' at no time was either my plane or the jet on the takeoff roll within 1 mi of each other while I was on the runway. The controller's tone and excitement in his voice leads me to believe that he did not intend for me to cross the runway. Factors that may have contributed; ground controller jumping from french to english (I do not speak french). Runway signs and surface contours that made it difficult for me to see the far end of the runway prior to crossing. It was not until I was fully on the runway that I could see the far end. My confusion as to the place I was to hold short when the controller asked me to hold short on my second call to say that I finished the run-up. In a quick exchange, initiated by the ground controller after I crossed runway 6, it appears that the controller was unsure if he had asked me to hold short of runway 5 after the run-up. I think that he may have asked me to hold short in french!

Title: MOONEY PLT HAS RWY INCURSION AT CYUL.
Narrative: I WAS CLRED BY GND CTL AT MONTREAL DORVAL ARPT TO TAXI TO TXWY A AND TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 6. THE CTLR ASKED THAT I RUN UP PRIOR TO XING RWY 6 AND TO CALL HIM WHEN I WAS READY TO CROSS. I READ BACK THE HOLD SHORT AND TAXI INSTRUCTIONS THEN DID A RUN-UP. UPON COMPLETING THE RUN-UP, I CALLED GND AND WAS TOLD TO PROCEED TO TXWY A3 AND HOLD SHORT, CROSS RWY 6. AS I CROSSED RWY 6, I NOTICED A LARGE JET POISED AT THE OTHER END (+/-7000 FT AWAY) ON THE ROLL FOR TKOF. I ACCELERATED ACROSS THE RWY JUST AS THE GND CTLR ASKED ME TO 'HOLD SHORT.' AT NO TIME WAS EITHER MY PLANE OR THE JET ON THE TKOF ROLL WITHIN 1 MI OF EACH OTHER WHILE I WAS ON THE RWY. THE CTLR'S TONE AND EXCITEMENT IN HIS VOICE LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT HE DID NOT INTEND FOR ME TO CROSS THE RWY. FACTORS THAT MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED; GND CTLR JUMPING FROM FRENCH TO ENGLISH (I DO NOT SPEAK FRENCH). RWY SIGNS AND SURFACE CONTOURS THAT MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR ME TO SEE THE FAR END OF THE RWY PRIOR TO XING. IT WAS NOT UNTIL I WAS FULLY ON THE RWY THAT I COULD SEE THE FAR END. MY CONFUSION AS TO THE PLACE I WAS TO HOLD SHORT WHEN THE CTLR ASKED ME TO HOLD SHORT ON MY SECOND CALL TO SAY THAT I FINISHED THE RUN-UP. IN A QUICK EXCHANGE, INITIATED BY THE GND CTLR AFTER I CROSSED RWY 6, IT APPEARS THAT THE CTLR WAS UNSURE IF HE HAD ASKED ME TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 5 AFTER THE RUN-UP. I THINK THAT HE MAY HAVE ASKED ME TO HOLD SHORT IN FRENCH!
