Narrative:

Hou tower had me (PA22, over hou airport, west to east at 1500 ft) with a clearance to overhead airport with a l-hand turn downwind for runway 12L, with a clearance to expect to have runway 17 if conditions permitted. Just as I arrived at western boundary of hou airport, the hou tower gave me a landing clearance for runway 17. I acknowledged landing clearance and descended rapidly for runway 17. Runway 17 crosses the approach end of runway 12R. Just as I was rolling onto final for runway 17, the hou tower told me to go around immediately. As I looked up, I saw an air carrier Y B737 going around. (B737 was on approach to runway 12R hou.) I went around, turning to parallel runway 12L at highway, completed go around, landing on runway 12L. My suggestion was that hou tower should have notified me of the position of air carrier Y so that I could have extended my approach.

Title: PLT OF A PIPER TRI-PACER PA22 WAS INSTRUCTED TO GO AROUND WHEN TURNING FINAL AT HOU FOR RWY 17, AND LOOKED UP TO SEE AN ACR B737 GOING AROUND FROM APCH TO RWY 12R, 300 FT IN FRONT OF HIM.

Narrative: HOU TWR HAD ME (PA22, OVER HOU ARPT, W TO E AT 1500 FT) WITH A CLRNC TO OVERHEAD ARPT WITH A L-HAND TURN DOWNWIND FOR RWY 12L, WITH A CLRNC TO EXPECT TO HAVE RWY 17 IF CONDITIONS PERMITTED. JUST AS I ARRIVED AT WESTERN BOUNDARY OF HOU ARPT, THE HOU TWR GAVE ME A LNDG CLRNC FOR RWY 17. I ACKNOWLEDGED LNDG CLRNC AND DSNDED RAPIDLY FOR RWY 17. RWY 17 CROSSES THE APCH END OF RWY 12R. JUST AS I WAS ROLLING ONTO FINAL FOR RWY 17, THE HOU TWR TOLD ME TO GO AROUND IMMEDIATELY. AS I LOOKED UP, I SAW AN ACR Y B737 GOING AROUND. (B737 WAS ON APCH TO RWY 12R HOU.) I WENT AROUND, TURNING TO PARALLEL RWY 12L AT HWY, COMPLETED GAR, LNDG ON RWY 12L. MY SUGGESTION WAS THAT HOU TWR SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED ME OF THE POS OF ACR Y SO THAT I COULD HAVE EXTENDED MY APCH.
