Narrative:
ZAU kept us high for traffic. When clear of traffic, ATC asked us to cross awsum at 10000 ft. When it became apparent we could not comply with our clearance, I advised ATC. At awsum ATC asked for our altitude. We were passing 10900 ft. No further report requests were requested from ATC.

Title: UNABLE TO MEET XING RESTR NEAR CHICAGO. ATC ADVISED.
Narrative: ZAU KEPT US HIGH FOR TFC. WHEN CLR OF TFC, ATC ASKED US TO CROSS AWSUM AT 10000 FT. WHEN IT BECAME APPARENT WE COULD NOT COMPLY WITH OUR CLRNC, I ADVISED ATC. AT AWSUM ATC ASKED FOR OUR ALT. WE WERE PASSING 10900 FT. NO FURTHER RPT REQUESTS WERE REQUESTED FROM ATC.
