Narrative:

We flew a DC9-30 that had no egt limit markings on its APU egt gauge. It was not noticed by flight crew. I have no idea if this would be an airworthiness issue or not. No one seems to know for sure, however maintenance is replacing the gauge with one that has limit markings. We have 2 APU types with different maximum continuous and transitory egt limits. How a 'generic marked' APU egt gauge ended up in the airplane is currently being investigated by the company maintenance department and safety/regulation compliance department.
