Narrative:
On takeoff after rotation, loud noise was heard in nosewheel area. With positive rate of climb and gear retraction in progress, noise continued and vibration started. Leveloff at 2000 ft and 180 KTS noise and vibration continued with gear door open light remaining illuminated. Pom procedure accomplished. Notified tower of intentions to return and requested emergency equipment standing by for landing. When landing gear extended and speed at 140 KTS noise and vibration ceased. After landing no damage or abnormal conditions were noted by either emergency personnel or company maintenance personnel.
