Narrative:
My aircraft was cleared by the tower for a visual approach straight in to runway 30 and 'cleared to land.' I would guess that our clearance to land was given about 5 mi out. Very little radio traffic was on tower frequency. Neither my student nor I heard the B737 cleared for takeoff (on runway 17). Just after touchdown and after crossing runway 17, our passenger/observer stated that 'an airplane just went behind us.' upon questioning, she (a sailplane pilot) told me that all 3 wheels of the B737 were on the ground when it went by. Neither my student nor I saw the B737 until after it had lifted off and was 1/2 way down runway 17. The WX conditions were as follows: 1) the sun was at a very low angle and on the nose making it difficult to see. 2) dust and haze made objects on the ground virtually invisible. 3) the B737 would have been just beginning to move as we were on short final to runway 30. I did not detect any movement on the ground. I lost no time from the airplane to the telephone to call the tower. Appropriately the supervisor answered on the first ring. He said straight out that they had made a mistake in clearing the B737 to take off and that he would take care of the problem. Corrective action: all of us involved need to be paying more attention to 'situational awareness.' P.south. Deja vu all over again. This same situation occurred to me several yrs ago at the same airport, same time of day, same runways, me in a 206 and the other aircraft was a 1900. Maybe some things never change, but they better change!

Title: PAX ON A PIPER SENECA, PA34, DURING LNDG ROLL, OBSERVED A B737 ROLL BE BEHIND THEM ON AN INTERSECTING RWY TAKING OFF. TWR SUPVR ADVISED THAT IT WAS A CTLR ERROR.
Narrative: MY ACFT WAS CLRED BY THE TWR FOR A VISUAL APCH STRAIGHT IN TO RWY 30 AND 'CLRED TO LAND.' I WOULD GUESS THAT OUR CLRNC TO LAND WAS GIVEN ABOUT 5 MI OUT. VERY LITTLE RADIO TFC WAS ON TWR FREQ. NEITHER MY STUDENT NOR I HEARD THE B737 CLRED FOR TKOF (ON RWY 17). I DID NOT DETECT ANY MOVEMENT ON THE GND. I LOST NO TIME FROM THE AIRPLANE TO THE TELEPHONE TO CALL THE TWR. APPROPRIATELY THE SUPVR ANSWERED ON THE FIRST RING. HE SAID STRAIGHT OUT THAT THEY HAD MADE A MISTAKE IN CLRING THE B737 TO TAKE OFF AND THAT HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROB. CORRECTIVE ACTION: ALL OF US INVOLVED NEED TO BE PAYING MORE ATTN TO 'SITUATIONAL AWARENESS.' P.S. DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS SAME SIT OCCURRED TO ME SEVERAL YRS AGO AT THE SAME ARPT, SAME TIME OF DAY, SAME RWYS, ME IN A 206 AND THE OTHER ACFT WAS A 1900. MAYBE SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE, BUT THEY BETTER CHANGE!
