Narrative:
Flying visually by hudson river for a visual approach to runway 22 at lga. VMC existed and we were told to descend to 2000 ft. At 2200 ft, we were told to stop at 2500 ft and then cleared to 2000 ft. There seemed to be some confusion about the altitude, but no discussion on the altitude followed. Can't remember if we were given a different altitude than 2000 ft. Shortly thereafter, we were cleared for visual to runway 22. It had been a long day going on 12 hours of duty with a wake-up call of XA00 that morning. We were tired and not at our sharpest at that time. This was day 2 of a 4 day trip, with all early shows.
