Narrative:
We were descending into iah on the das.DAS3 STAR. We were cleared to cross das at 10000 ft and 250 KTS. I programmed the FMS and activated VNAV and LNAV on the MCP. We think that the VNAV kicked off but we didn't notice it. Due to inattention and complacency, I didn't notice how far off profile we were until 6 NM northeast of das, when center queried if we were going to make the restr. I replied no, and requested a turn out. They didn't reply for a moment and then handed us off to houston approach. Center told us that approach would accept us as we were and that there were no traffic conflicts.
