Narrative:

ZJX put us on a vector to deviate east of a line of thunderstorms that stretched southwest to northeast through northern florida and georgia. Numerous aircraft were deviating east of the line, center gave us a radar vector of 215 degrees, then told us to squawk 7700. As we were on a vector we followed his instructions. Other aircraft were also told to squawk 7700. We were clear of the WX on the east side of the line. We were concerned when the controller told us and other aircraft to squawk transponder code 7700, that he may have vectored us into a military restr area.
