Narrative:
During climb out of ewr between FL180-FL200, lost power on the #1 engine. Declared an emergency with ATC, went through the company engine failure checklist. Conducted all communications with ATC, company operations, flight attendants, and passenger. Made normal approach and landing (1 engine inoperative) over gross weight. Concluded with debriefing with crew, operations, and maintenance. Made all appropriate logbook entries and paperwork. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the engine was changed and the initial report was the N1 bearing had failed and was suspected frozen.
