Narrative:
Contacted approach control. Told to expect approach to runway 2R, requested runway 2L, reassigned runway 2R. Everything went ok until we were handed off to the tower. On initial contact as we were descending clear of the clouds, the tower said we could land on runway 2L if we had the airport in sight. Sure we got the airport, there's runway 2R dead ahead, the center field buildings and the runway on the left. VASI's have us high, nose over a little, final flaps, on speed on glide path. Hmmmm, I don't remember this power substation on final, 'below GS' warning. Oh yeah, de-tune the ILS's -- they're still on runway 2R which is farther away. On glide path, on speed, lined up -- really nice touchdown 1200 ft down the runway. Let's turn off here at T4, T4! Quick look -- airport diagram 10-9 page -- oh, T4 is on runway 2C. 32 yrs of flying military and civilian and this is the first time I've done this. Contributing factors: 1) took the clearance too late. 2) nice day. We were the only plane in the pattern. 3) very relaxed easy approach. 4) not contributing, but 8TH time here this month too relaxed? 5) I never felt uneasy until I saw T4 and heard the tower clear a plane I saw waiting to take off on runway 2C. Ground control told us of our mistake but said it's ok because there was no one around! Lucky for us and that it was MVFR, so tower could see what we were doing.

Title: CAPT OF A B737-500 LANDED ON THE CTR RWY AT BNA BY MISTAKE AFTER BREAKING OUT OF AN OVCST ON AN ILS TO THE R RWY AND BEING CLRED FOR A VISUAL TO THE L RWY.
Narrative: CONTACTED APCH CTL. TOLD TO EXPECT APCH TO RWY 2R, REQUESTED RWY 2L, REASSIGNED RWY 2R. EVERYTHING WENT OK UNTIL WE WERE HANDED OFF TO THE TWR. ON INITIAL CONTACT AS WE WERE DSNDING CLR OF THE CLOUDS, THE TWR SAID WE COULD LAND ON RWY 2L IF WE HAD THE ARPT IN SIGHT. SURE WE GOT THE ARPT, THERE'S RWY 2R DEAD AHEAD, THE CTR FIELD BUILDINGS AND THE RWY ON THE L. VASI'S HAVE US HIGH, NOSE OVER A LITTLE, FINAL FLAPS, ON SPD ON GLIDE PATH. HMMMM, I DON'T REMEMBER THIS PWR SUBSTATION ON FINAL, 'BELOW GS' WARNING. OH YEAH, DE-TUNE THE ILS'S -- THEY'RE STILL ON RWY 2R WHICH IS FARTHER AWAY. ON GLIDE PATH, ON SPD, LINED UP -- REALLY NICE TOUCHDOWN 1200 FT DOWN THE RWY. LET'S TURN OFF HERE AT T4, T4! QUICK LOOK -- ARPT DIAGRAM 10-9 PAGE -- OH, T4 IS ON RWY 2C. 32 YRS OF FLYING MIL AND CIVILIAN AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE DONE THIS. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 1) TOOK THE CLRNC TOO LATE. 2) NICE DAY. GND CTL TOLD US OF OUR MISTAKE BUT SAID IT'S OK BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND! LUCKY FOR US AND THAT IT WAS MVFR, SO TWR COULD SEE WHAT WE WERE DOING.
