Narrative:
On my second day of IOE, we were told to taxi from the gate to runway 25L via taxiway 'D,' 'south,' 'P,' cross runway 25 left and right and use alpha to taxi to the end of runway 25L. The captain stated that, in 22 years of using lax, he had never taxied to runway 25L via this route. We missed taxiway 'F' and ended up taxiing all the way down alpha to the end. At the end of taxiway alpha there were 2 red lights at which we stopped before going through. Taxiway lights are supposed to be blue. We turned around and taxiied back to 'F' and departed on runway 25L. There is a very poor signage at the end of runway 25L to guide you to the runways end. The controller later stated that we weren't the first aircraft to miss taxiway 'F.' both the captain and I agreed that if we weren't the first crew to do this, that this problem should be fixed, or the controller should warn of the poor signage at the end of that taxiway. The red lights should be replaced by appropriate blue lights. Red lights are runway lights.

Title: A NEW ACR FO, ON HIS SECOND DAY OF IOE, BECAMECONFUSED DURING TAXI AT LAX AND FELT THAT THE LIGHTS WERE CONFUSING.
Narrative: ON MY SECOND DAY OF IOE, WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI FROM THE GATE TO RWY 25L VIA TXWY 'D,' 'S,' 'P,' CROSS RWY 25 L AND R AND USE ALPHA TO TAXI TO THE END OF RWY 25L. THE CAPT STATED THAT, IN 22 YEARS OF USING LAX, HE HAD NEVER TAXIED TO RWY 25L VIA THIS RTE. WE MISSED TXWY 'F' AND ENDED UP TAXIING ALL THE WAY DOWN ALPHA TO THE END. AT THE END OF TXWY ALPHA THERE WERE 2 RED LIGHTS AT WHICH WE STOPPED BEFORE GOING THROUGH. TXWY LIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BLUE. WE TURNED AROUND AND TAXIIED BACK TO 'F' AND DEPARTED ON RWY 25L. THERE IS A VERY POOR SIGNAGE AT THE END OF RWY 25L TO GUIDE YOU TO THE RWYS END. THE CTLR LATER STATED THAT WE WEREN'T THE FIRST ACFT TO MISS TXWY 'F.' BOTH THE CAPT AND I AGREED THAT IF WE WEREN'T THE FIRST CREW TO DO THIS, THAT THIS PROB SHOULD BE FIXED, OR THE CTLR SHOULD WARN OF THE POOR SIGNAGE AT THE END OF THAT TXWY. THE RED LIGHTS SHOULD BE REPLACED BY APPROPRIATE BLUE LIGHTS. RED LIGHTS ARE RWY LIGHTS.
