Narrative:
We had just started our descent from 16000 ft and switched to regional approach when we heard a loud bang and the aircraft yawed to the right. Within seconds, the #2 engine had completely destroyed itself. There wasn't enough time for a precautionary shutdown. We declared an emergency with approach and received a clearance to proceed direct to the dfw airport. We completed all the emergency checklist items and landed at dfw without incident.
