Narrative:

We returned to the gate before we took off after departing the gate on time. Our reason for returning to the gate was that our led amber light was still on after selecting the flaps to the takeoff setting. I requested maintenance and they repaired the problem. After we departed for our destination, my first officer asked me if we should have asked for a new release time. I looked in our pom for clarification. The only reference to needing a new release time that seemed to apply to us was the 1 hour limit. However, we originally departed from our gate on schedule. Our second attempt was 1 hour and 10 mins from the original departure time. In the future, if I return to the gate, I will always request a new release time.
