Narrative:

During takeoff from lax the crew smelled burning rubber in the cockpit. We put on our oxygen masks, declared an emergency and returned to the field. The landing was uneventful and there was no indication we had a fire. The mechanics think it was something in the pressurization system. I think that we did everything correctly. After getting a new airplane we continued our day which lasted a total of 14 hours. At the time I thought I was rested enough for the following trips, but looking back I think the emergency really drained me and I should have had some rest before flying a long day.
