Narrative:

Flight attendant came into cockpit and reported electrical fumes in vicinity of row 24 left side of cabin. All lights and passenger entertainment system (pes) shut off in area of fumes. Dispatch and maintenance control advised of situation over phone patch. Main switches for passenger entertainment system and reading lights were turned off in cockpit. Fumes slowly dissipated to a point where nothing could be smelled. Aircraft continued to lax.

Title: A B747-400 FLC DETECTS AN OVERHEATED PAX ENTERTAINMENT SYS THAT HAD THE POTENTIAL FOR BEING A CRITICAL INCIDENT OVER THE PACIFIC WITH ZOA, CA.

Narrative: FLT ATTENDANT CAME INTO COCKPIT AND RPTED ELECTRICAL FUMES IN VICINITY OF ROW 24 L SIDE OF CABIN. ALL LIGHTS AND PAX ENTERTAINMENT SYS (PES) SHUT OFF IN AREA OF FUMES. FUMES SLOWLY DISSIPATED TO A POINT WHERE NOTHING COULD BE SMELLED. ACFT CONTINUED TO LAX.
