Narrative:
During the modification of overwing slide door sensor and target relocation, it was found that EICAS system did not display door open message with forward latch in unlatched condition. Engineering was contacted, deviated from airworthiness directive per engineering, trimmed target, after 4 months no change in airworthiness directive and told by management not to deviate from airworthiness directive even if it's wrong. Contacted air carrier quality assurance reference maintenance manual 757 xx-yy-ww, airworthiness directive #wxx-VVV.
