Narrative:
Departed bur and quickly noticed cabin becoming hot and no cool air coming from gaspers. Cabin altitude was noticed to be climbing with aircraft. Insured bleed and pressurization switches were in proper places. Tried air data computer #2 in case air data computer #1 was faulty. Requested return to airport. Left electrical converter shut down by itself. An emergency was declared, proper checklists completed and uneventful landing made. Bleed air duct was found to have separated in tail compartment. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was a gulfstream 111 with rolls royce spey engines. The reporter said the loss of cabin pressure was caused by a tail compartment pneumatic duct separation. The reporter said no tail compartment overheat warning was experienced.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A GULFSTREAM III ON INITIAL CLB DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO LOSS OF CABIN PRESSURE CAUSED BY A SEPARATED PNEUMATIC DUCT.
Narrative: DEPARTED BUR AND QUICKLY NOTICED CABIN BECOMING HOT AND NO COOL AIR COMING FROM GASPERS. CABIN ALT WAS NOTICED TO BE CLBING WITH ACFT. INSURED BLEED AND PRESSURIZATION SWITCHES WERE IN PROPER PLACES. TRIED ADC #2 IN CASE ADC #1 WAS FAULTY. REQUESTED RETURN TO ARPT. L ELECTRICAL CONVERTER SHUT DOWN BY ITSELF. AN EMER WAS DECLARED, PROPER CHKLISTS COMPLETED AND UNEVENTFUL LNDG MADE. BLEED AIR DUCT WAS FOUND TO HAVE SEPARATED IN TAIL COMPARTMENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS A GULFSTREAM 111 WITH ROLLS ROYCE SPEY ENGS. THE RPTR SAID THE LOSS OF CABIN PRESSURE WAS CAUSED BY A TAIL COMPARTMENT PNEUMATIC DUCT SEPARATION. THE RPTR SAID NO TAIL COMPARTMENT OVERHEAT WARNING WAS EXPERIENCED.
