Narrative:
On landing runway 31R jfk, I lost both left main tires. Stopped aircraft on runway, with no injuries. Supplemental information from acn 479213: I did an exceptional landing on runway 31R. We were doing a visual approach to that runway. We landed without any abnormalities and after I xferred the controls to the captain, we started to feel a little vibration on the left side. Tower informed us that we had lost part of our tires. It looked like possible antiskid system failure. Callback conversation with reporter acn 479806 revealed the following information: reporter said that there was little or no braking used prior to the loss of the tires. He said that his union has put out a bulletin reference antiskid problems on this type aircraft. He was not sure if there is locked brake protection on this system. He has heard anecdotal reports of several other instances of tire failures related to antiskid problems at his airline. He has had no feedback yet from the maintenance department.
