Narrative:

Cruise flight 8000 ft MSL left engine shut down. Declared emergency. Landed at nearest suitable airport. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated this was an uncommanded engine shutdown caused by a kinked fuel line restricting fuel to the engine. The reporter said seven of these events have happen in 2 days, mainly on the ground. The reporter stated an airworthiness directive has been issued to correct the kinking of the fuel supply line between the firewall and the engine fuel pump. The reporter said after the diversion the engine was run on the ground and operated ok then ferried to ZZZ maintenance base and run again where it failed. The reporter stated one incident involved the airplane on takeoff when power was applied the engine failed and returned to the gate where it was run at high power and operated ok but then failed on the 2ND takeoff attempt. The reporter said he did not have any knowledge of what the airworthiness directive changes or modifies and does not know the accomplishment status on the carrier's fleet.
