Narrative:
The problem arose because I was unaware of the temporary restr area. I had not checked NOTAMS for this area, as I assumed the forest fires were further north. Violation was discovered after I checked in with ZLC or approach control -- I don't remember which. I was advised that I was in the area and that I should turn east to leave. In retrospect, I should have climbed above 11500 ft, as that was the ceiling of the restr area. To my knowledge, there was no near miss with any aircraft. A forest service aircraft did fly by me, but it was about 1000 ft horizontal and below. In the future, I will check NOTAMS and plot restr areas in any airspace I intend to use.
