Narrative:
Was cleared for the ILS runway 24 at mvy due to poor visibility. Once inside the FAF, I attempted to contact mvy and received no response, although I could hear other communication. On short final and over the runway before touchdown, I tried 2 or 3 additional times -- no response. I felt the smart thing to do at the time was to land assuming a possible communication problem. When clearing the runway the tower finally called and informed me that they had closed the airport and that I had landed without a clearance. Better coordination between local and cape approach. Better situational awareness on the part of the tower (they should have known we were inbound) and a prompter check-in with the tower on my part could have possible avoided the confusion.
