Narrative:
On A523 approximately 200 NM prior to flann, we called for clearance to deviate 60 mi right of course for WX. We then changed the request to 80 mi right. We got the clearance as requested. We were at FL250 and couldn't get over or find a way around the WX. We needed significantly more deviation and tried to get clearance both on HF and on VHF through a relay with another company flight. We exceeded the 80 mi deviation clearance by a significant amount before being able to contact ATC. Finally got radar contact and received clearance to climb. Diverted to bos due insufficient fuel. Supplemental information from acn 481985: en route to jfk, communicating with new york commercial radio. We exceeded the 80 NM clearance. Shortly afterwards, we were in radar contact with ZNY and received clearance to climb to a higher altitude, which enabled us to clear the WX. Due to unforecast WX, we diverted to boston where we refueled and finished the flight safely.

Title: AN A300 FLC EXCEEDS THEIR CLRNC LIMIT FOR LATERAL DEV AROUND TSTM ACTIVITY WHEN EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY IN ESTABLISHING COM WITH ZNY ON R523 NW OF BERMUDA, TXKF, FO.
Narrative: ON A523 APPROX 200 NM PRIOR TO FLANN, WE CALLED FOR CLRNC TO DEVIATE 60 MI R OF COURSE FOR WX. WE THEN CHANGED THE REQUEST TO 80 MI R. WE GOT THE CLRNC AS REQUESTED. WE WERE AT FL250 AND COULDN'T GET OVER OR FIND A WAY AROUND THE WX. WE NEEDED SIGNIFICANTLY MORE DEV AND TRIED TO GET CLRNC BOTH ON HF AND ON VHF THROUGH A RELAY WITH ANOTHER COMPANY FLT. WE EXCEEDED THE 80 MI DEV CLRNC BY A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT BEFORE BEING ABLE TO CONTACT ATC. FINALLY GOT RADAR CONTACT AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO CLB. DIVERTED TO BOS DUE INSUFFICIENT FUEL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 481985: ENRTE TO JFK, COMMUNICATING WITH NEW YORK COMMERCIAL RADIO. WE EXCEEDED THE 80 NM CLRNC. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, WE WERE IN RADAR CONTACT WITH ZNY AND RECEIVED CLRNC TO CLB TO A HIGHER ALT, WHICH ENABLED US TO CLR THE WX. DUE TO UNFORECAST WX, WE DIVERTED TO BOSTON WHERE WE REFUELED AND FINISHED THE FLT SAFELY.
