Narrative:
I inadvertently taxied across a runway on which another aircraft was taking off, at a non twred airport. The other pilot expressed displeasure on the radio, and when I realized what had happened, I immediately apologized, on the radio, and did not hear further from the other plane. I had been preparing to give a ride to some family members, for the first time, and allowed myself to become distraction by the process. We were having a problem in making the intercom work, and in resolving the problem, I became less vigilant than I should have been. I should not have allowed the distrs to take control. Because I was preoccupied with my passenger, I did not hear the radio call of the other aircraft. There was no collision, and it was not even a 'near miss,' but I should not have taxied across the runway when I did. I should have stopped the aircraft entirely before dealing with the intercom problem.

Title: THE PLT OF A PA34 TAXIES ACROSS A RWY THAT IS OCCUPIED BY AN ACFT ON ITS TKOF ROLL AT TRK, CA.
Narrative: I INADVERTENTLY TAXIED ACROSS A RWY ON WHICH ANOTHER ACFT WAS TAKING OFF, AT A NON TWRED ARPT. THE OTHER PLT EXPRESSED DISPLEASURE ON THE RADIO, AND WHEN I REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED, I IMMEDIATELY APOLOGIZED, ON THE RADIO, AND DID NOT HEAR FURTHER FROM THE OTHER PLANE. I HAD BEEN PREPARING TO GIVE A RIDE TO SOME FAMILY MEMBERS, FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND ALLOWED MYSELF TO BECOME DISTR BY THE PROCESS. WE WERE HAVING A PROB IN MAKING THE INTERCOM WORK, AND IN RESOLVING THE PROB, I BECAME LESS VIGILANT THAN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I SHOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED THE DISTRS TO TAKE CTL. BECAUSE I WAS PREOCCUPIED WITH MY PAX, I DID NOT HEAR THE RADIO CALL OF THE OTHER ACFT. THERE WAS NO COLLISION, AND IT WAS NOT EVEN A 'NEAR MISS,' BUT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TAXIED ACROSS THE RWY WHEN I DID. I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THE ACFT ENTIRELY BEFORE DEALING WITH THE INTERCOM PROB.
