Narrative:
During preflight, the first officer and I both thought each other had checked logbook. No maintenance issues involved customer service. Wanted early push and we hurried our preflight. 1 MEL with flight restr reviewed. Never had this happened before -- just overlooked the fact I did not see the logbook myself discovered in cruise flight. Obtained temporary log on next leg.

Title: FLC OF AN MD80 DISCOVERED DURING CRUISE FLT THAT THERE WAS AN MEL WITH A FLT RESTR THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF SINCE THEY BOTH FAILED TO REVIEW THE ACFT LOGBOOK.
Narrative: DURING PREFLT, THE FO AND I BOTH THOUGHT EACH OTHER HAD CHKED LOGBOOK. NO MAINT ISSUES INVOLVED CUSTOMER SVC. WANTED EARLY PUSH AND WE HURRIED OUR PREFLT. 1 MEL WITH FLT RESTR REVIEWED. NEVER HAD THIS HAPPENED BEFORE -- JUST OVERLOOKED THE FACT I DID NOT SEE THE LOGBOOK MYSELF DISCOVERED IN CRUISE FLT. OBTAINED TEMPORARY LOG ON NEXT LEG.
