Narrative:
During taxi out from las, the ramp controller (frequency 124.4) gave us a taxi clearance reference the 'block house.' when we told him we did not know where the block house was, he gave us taxi clearance to spot xx. As we taxied by the 'block house,' the ramp controller pointed it out for future reference. I pointed out that it should be charted on the ramp taxi diagram (commercial chart 10-9B dated apr/99). He said they reference the 'block house' often during taxi clrncs and that we should pen it in on our charts. (This would not help out the rest of our pilots flying in and out of las.) if the 'block house' is going to be referenced by ramp control, it should be charted. It appears to be located in hold pad 2.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF AN MLG COMPLAINT POINTS OUT THAT THE TERMINOLOGY USED BY THE LAS TWR CTLR FOR GND HOLDING LOCATIONS IS NOT THE SAME AS THAT SHOWN IN THE COMMERCIAL OR NOAA ARPT DIAGRAMS.
Narrative: DURING TAXI OUT FROM LAS, THE RAMP CTLR (FREQ 124.4) GAVE US A TAXI CLRNC REF THE 'BLOCK HOUSE.' WHEN WE TOLD HIM WE DID NOT KNOW WHERE THE BLOCK HOUSE WAS, HE GAVE US TAXI CLRNC TO SPOT XX. AS WE TAXIED BY THE 'BLOCK HOUSE,' THE RAMP CTLR POINTED IT OUT FOR FUTURE REF. I POINTED OUT THAT IT SHOULD BE CHARTED ON THE RAMP TAXI DIAGRAM (COMMERCIAL CHART 10-9B DATED APR/99). HE SAID THEY REF THE 'BLOCK HOUSE' OFTEN DURING TAXI CLRNCS AND THAT WE SHOULD PEN IT IN ON OUR CHARTS. (THIS WOULD NOT HELP OUT THE REST OF OUR PLTS FLYING IN AND OUT OF LAS.) IF THE 'BLOCK HOUSE' IS GOING TO BE REFED BY RAMP CTL, IT SHOULD BE CHARTED. IT APPEARS TO BE LOCATED IN HOLD PAD 2.
