Narrative:
During the mosey 5 STAR to cvg, we were flying toward the cvg VOR at 10000 ft MSL assigned, and awaiting a vector to downwind (right) to runway 18R. We remember hearing the controller say something, then he said 'flight X check for stuck microphone.' I realized we were close to on top of runway 18R and first officer (who was flying) immediately complied with controller's request to turn left to heading of 300 degrees. I looked at the TCASII and saw the closest target at 5 mi, 10 O'clock position and 500 ft above. Of note is that my push-to-talk switch on yoke was deferred. I was making every effort to use the other switch on console but may have inadvertently used it. I recommend that in future, deferred push-to-talk switches be disabled so that they can't be accidentally used.

Title: A CL65 FLC MISSES APCH CTLR'S CLRNC FOR A DSCNT AND HDG CHANGE WHEN ACFT EXPERIENCES A STUCK MIKE. THE CAPT, PF, HAD BEEN USING AN MEL'ED YOKE PUSH-TO-TALK SWITCH INBOUND TO CVG, KY.
Narrative: DURING THE MOSEY 5 STAR TO CVG, WE WERE FLYING TOWARD THE CVG VOR AT 10000 FT MSL ASSIGNED, AND AWAITING A VECTOR TO DOWNWIND (R) TO RWY 18R. WE REMEMBER HEARING THE CTLR SAY SOMETHING, THEN HE SAID 'FLT X CHK FOR STUCK MIKE.' I REALIZED WE WERE CLOSE TO ON TOP OF RWY 18R AND FO (WHO WAS FLYING) IMMEDIATELY COMPLIED WITH CTLR'S REQUEST TO TURN L TO HDG OF 300 DEGS. I LOOKED AT THE TCASII AND SAW THE CLOSEST TARGET AT 5 MI, 10 O'CLOCK POS AND 500 FT ABOVE.
