Narrative:
It was during a break in the service, I was in the first class galley, looking at a duty free item. A passenger from first class opened the curtain and reported that he thought that something was burning, possibly the power ports. I and the other flight attendants immediately went out in the cabin and did smell a burning odor in the cabin, an 'electrical' smell. The purser immediately went to the control panel and turned off everything. I proceeded to the business class because I knew that my passenger would be questioning why the dvd units had stopped working. I told my passenger that there seemed to be an electrical issue and that as soon as I had any information I would let them know. I then went up to first class and the purser told us that she did not have information yet, that they were busy in the cockpit at the moment. I returned to business class and my passenger. The captain then made a PA telling them that there was an electrical problem and that they were working on it. The aircraft was out 1 hour and 15 mins from land in either direction at this point. The decision was made to land at goose bay to check out the plane and the passenger were kept informed constantly by the captain. The smoke in the cabin was a heavy haze that cleared somewhat after power was cut. The flight landed without incident and the passenger deplaned via stairs and were taken on to jfk on a different plane later that night. The crew over-nighted in goose bay.
